Independent Health Strategic Client Partner - Self-Funded Services in Williamsville, New York

The Strategic Client Partner – Self-Funded Services shall be responsible for retention and growth of profitable membership for an assigned group of self-funded clients. The Partner will work with their clients to develop a long term to strategy that meet the clients’ current and future corporate goals. They will be required to possess strong relationship management skills and be comfortable and confident in conducting meetings with high level executives, brokers and consultants. The Partner must demonstrate excellent critical thinking and analytical skills to uncover the groups’ issues and needs and provide a solution to meet those needs. The Partner is accountable for fully utilizing systems to maintain extensive records of renewal and relationship building activity. They will plan, implement, and consistently review the financial performance of the assigned clients in collaboration with the Manager, Operations and Manager, Strategic Business Operations.


  • Bachelor's degree required. Associate Degree and two (2) additional years of self-funded business experience or four (4) additional years self-funded business experience may be considered in lieu of education .

  • Five (5) years of experience in a business to business sales support or account servicing role within health insurance or related industry required; experience with self-funded business highly preferred.

  • Two (2) years of progressive leadership/management responsibilities required.

  • Ability to gather information, determine needs and provide solutions.

  • Ability to leverage relationships to facilitate growth.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities and manage time effectively in a fast paced environment.

  • Proven verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally via the telephone as well as in person. Ability to communicate complex messages with a wide range of audiences on an internal and external basis.

  • Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with brokers, employers and leadership.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving capabilities.

  • Good public speaking/group presentation skills.

  • Strong PC skills required including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and the ability to learn and utilize contact management systems such as Salesforce.com in an effective and efficient manner to document all activity and proposal generations.

  • Ability to travel both locally and nationally approximately 70% of the time. Any Nova employee who uses a motor vehicle in the course of their duties representing Nova must be compliant with New York State Motor Vehicle laws and must follow the Policy that pertains to Driver’s License Requirements as a condition of employment.

  • Ability to work after hours and/or weekends.
