M&T Bank Data Management Lead - Strategy & Analytics in Wilmington, Delaware
In this role you will ...
Analyze business units’ progress towards enterprise data strategy, enterprise data management policies and standards, and strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with business units’ senior leadership and data management teams to craft and implement plans to achieve data management objectives.
Work with teams within Enterprise Data & Analytics to enable and support delivery of their capabilities to business units.
Advocate for enterprise adoption of the data management program.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and complete data management tasks and drafting of data management policy and procedures
Work with data stakeholders to understand, propose and manage approaches and solutions to data requirements that span the data lifecycle
Manage and participate in drafting standards on business and technical metadata and coordinate with data user communities to ensure their metadata needs are accounted for
Manage the maintenance of the issue management register(s) and provide expert data knowledge to development of issue remediation plans. Draft issue remediation standards
Manage and participate in drafting data retention policies and ensure the monitoring of adherence across the organization
Manage and participate in drafting data quality policies and ensure policies are enforced
Lead drafting of enterprise policies for access controls in coordination with subject matter experts
Lead coordination with data stakeholders to classify data, ensure data products meet security requirements based on data classification, integrate access policies into data products, platforms and tools
Supervise creation of access groups based on data classifications
Work with data product teams to develop data sharing agreements
Lead drafting of enterprise data privacy and classification policies
Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Number of Staff: 6-8
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 7 years related experience
Minimum of 1 year managerial, supervisory and/or work leadership experience
Experience in at least one programing language or analytical/statistical tools
Experience in analyzing data and draw valid conclusions
Expert knowledge of data management concepts, terminology, roles, and responsibilities, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
Experience completing data research using industry standard research methods
Experience leading the development and/or implementation of data management and/or data governance policy and standards
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Experience navigating and retrieving data from databases directly and/or through Application Programming Interface (API)
Experience with data management and query languages in big data environment or cloud environment
Expert knowledge of the data life cycle
Experience in financial industry
Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
Experience with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $127,274.43 - $212,124.05 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
