We are seeking a skilled and dynamic professional to take on the role of Head of Group Internal Audit. This pivotal position involves leading the Group’s internal audit function, ensuring it adheres to industry best practices, and providing critical oversight on risk management, controls, and governance.

As a key authority within the organization, you will have the responsibility to shape the audit strategy and drive continuous improvement across our global operations, creating significant valuable throughout the group.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Risk Management and Internal Controls Assessment:

  • Provide reasonable assurance on the effectiveness of the Group’s risk management.

  • Assess and strengthen the organization’s internal controls.

  • Evaluate compliance with Sulzer’s internal policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

  • Strategic Leadership and Audit Planning:

  • Develop and lead the strategy, objectives, and targets for the audit function in alignment with Group strategy.

  • Drive end-to-end audit delivery service and influence senior management across divisions.

  • Shape the design and development of the Audit Function.

  • Audit Projects and Consultancy:

  • Lead and oversee audit-related projects.

  • Act as an expert in the audit field, maintaining external awareness and perspective.

  • Budgeting and Financial Accountability:

  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for Group Internal Audit.

  • Ensure achievement of audit-related financial objectives.

  • People Leadership and Team Development:

  • Ensure proper organization, staffing, and skill development within the audit team.

  • Provide guidance, motivation, and development opportunities for team members.

  • Audit Committee Engagement:

  • Coordinate the preparation of materials for, and act as secretary to, the Audit Committee - regularly meeting to report on the status of activities.

  • Inform the committee of emerging risks or exposures and act as a “thought leader” on internal audit matters.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • University degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field; further certification in internal audit/risk management (CIA, CISA, CRMA) or finance certification (CPA, ACCA) a plus.

  • Minimum of 15 years of audit experience; ideally with additional exposure in controlling or other transferable finance positions.

  • Solid expertise in all aspects of the Internal Audit function - understanding of internal control systems, governance concepts, operational processes, and business risks (strategic, operational, compliance).

  • Proficient in SAP, financial/management accounting, and analytical tools.

  • High personal integrity and ethical commitment, along with a willingness to challenge norms to create value, whilst demonstrating a flexible outlook.

  • Strategic business acumen, able to establish strong professional relationships with diverse stakeholders, combined with talent for motivating and people development.

  • Excellent communication in English; second language preferred.
