Position Overview: The Physician Assistant (PA) will be responsible for the administration of the Company’s medical program and acts as the primary internal health care provider who evaluates the health and fitness of current and prospective employees. The PA will serve as the Assistant Medical Review Officer (MRO) by ensuring compliance with federal and state mandates of the drug and alcohol program. General Duties/Responsibilities: •Responsible for maintaining compliance with New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) and other governing body regulations regarding medical standards.•Performs Commercial Driver Medical Examination for employees holding a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and submits medical certification electronically to NYS Department of Motor Vehicle office.•Manages the drug and alcohol testing program including conducting drug and alcohol tests for all safety sensitive employees under DOT authority and testing for non-safety sensitive employees under company authority.•Responsible for reporting information to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse such as verified positive, adulterated, or substituted controlled test results, and refusal to test determinations.•Produces random drug and alcohol testing notices utilizing computer-based programs. •Responsible for the oversight and monitoring of employees on workers’ compensation, disability, and family medical leave.•Serves as witness in workers’ compensation hearings to testify about the authentication of medical records.•Responsible for assessing employee’s fitness for duty abilities, coordinating retraining needs, and requesting medical certifications.•Serves as the main resource on occupational health matters, reviewing such items as doctors' reports on employee health, workers' compensation insurance claims, medical restrictions on employee work, and the policies and procedures of the Company.•Provides general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, emotional problems of daily living, health maintenance, and vaccinations (i.e. influenza).•Performs general administrative functions such as ordering medical office supplies, scheduling medical exams, and reviews drug and alcohol lab results. •Communicates with department managers regarding employee health status as needed. •Provides educated medical recommendations to the Company.•Responsible for staying current with DOT regulations, federal mandates, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and all other governing bodies.•Establishes and maintains medical department records to ensure year end compliance with applicable laws and regulations.•Ensures cleanliness, and confidential safe environment within the medical office. Reporting Responsibilities:This position reports to the Vice President of Human Resources along with clinical supervision provided by a licensed MD.Position Qualifications: •Required a Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of full-time professional experience as a Physician Assistant.•A license and current registration to practice as a PA in New York State. This License must be maintained for the duration of employment.•Registered as a National Certified Medical Examiner with the FMCSA, preferred.•Demonstrated competency dealing with all demographic and age groups. •Must have medical knowledge of principles, practices and methods of safety and health as it relates to employees.•Knowledge of methods and techniques used in accident prevention.•Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects.•Ability to monitor to ensure that confidentiality of information systems and data is maintained.•Ability to review assignments or documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.•Excellent oral and written communication skills.•Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.Physical and Sensory Requirements:•Ability to bend and lift up to 15 lbs.•Ability to operate job related equipment including the use of medical equipment, basic computer programs, and systems to effectively carry out the duties of the position.•Ability to evaluate the interpersonal characteristics and demeanor of individuals or groups to respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations.•Ability to travel to both Company work facilities when needed.•Ability to listen and asses’ employees legally and effectively.•Ability to stand, walk, and move for prolonged periods. •Ability to maintain organization and professionalism.•Ability to maintain confidentiality. •Ability to evaluate information making independent decisions.•Ability to read, write and converse in English.Hours/Shift:Monday-Friday 8:00 am- 4:30 pm or 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Occasional nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Salary: 120000 Maximum Salary: 135000 Salary Unit: Yearly
